ADDE first company in Australia to manufacture
a Plasma Tig System

Recently, parent company ADDE was the first company in Australia to manufacture a Robotic Plasma Tig System using Fronius power source – with amazing results! Using extensive knowledge, ADDE came up with the solution that has since been replicated by other Fronius customers in Australia. ADDE’s client had a need to eliminate some of the follow on processes after manually tig welding their products, which included linnishing, polishing and buffing products to guarantee a flat finish. ADDE’s Robotic Plasma Tig System eliminated that need for clean up, providing a flat and consistent finish every time.

Catten- PhotoCatten Industries

Located in Bayswater, Victoria, Catten Industries was established in 1994. Experts in their field, they specialise in precision sheet metal and fabrication processes.

With advances in welding technology, Catten Industries required a solution to improve their production process, whilst maintaining the quality and consistency of their welding. After extensive research, local company Standard Automation Systems Pty Ltd (SAS) were engaged to provide a Robotic Welding Cell from their range of Standard Welding Solutions.

Having a wealth of automation experience, SAS focused on developing solutions using clever design in manufacturing their Robotic Welding Cells. These robust, reliable solutions are suitable for welding an exotic range of material, maximising the quality of manufacture for small to medium parts.

By establishing gaps, in the automation market, and focusing on what manufacturers need, SAS’s systems have been developed to be low cost without limiting functionality from each Robotic Welding Cell.

The Robotic Welding Cell layout enables the robot to weld the product continuously. This is achieved by the operator reloading the product on a rotating table whilst welding is carried out on the opposite side. This continuous motion of welding, achieved nearly 100% uptime for the client.

Ian Cubitt, General Manager for Catten Industries highlighted that the Robotic Welding Cell benefits the business, by providing high quality components, with consistency, and at a high throughput.

By offering the range of Standard Welding Solutions, this technology is available for small to medium manufacturers with payback expected to be less than twelve months, and immediate improvement on productivity, as Catten Industries experienced.

SAS’s Standard Welding Solutions provide a cost effective, user friendly and robust system, capitalizing in the advances in robot based welding technology.

Catten- PhotoARB

Founded in 1975, ARB continues to maintain its position as an innovator in the automotive industry by utilising the most modern, state of the art fabrication equipment and machinery. Being long time users of robot based systems, ARB have recently installed the Standard Automation Systems Pty Ltd (SAS) Robotic Welding Transportable V-Cell.

SAS’s experience, knowledge and capabilities allowed for the Robotic Welding Transportable V-Cell to be customized, meeting ARB’s complete production requirements. ARB’s Production Engineer, Michael Keep said “To be competitive these days you have to use new technologies, and automate your high volume processes. It is the only way for businesses to stay in front and using SAS as a partner to help us move forward to a successful future.”

The Robotic Welding Transportable V-Cell layout enables the robot to weld the product continuously. This is achieved by the operator reloading the product on one side of the cell whilst welding is carried out on the opposite side.  This continuous motion of welding achieves nearly 100% uptime.

Fixtures were built & designed to be adapted to high speed part manipulators, which are fully coordinated with the robot to give complete synchronisation. This gave welding access to almost every part of the product.

The compact Robotic Welding Transportable V-Cell is fully forklift able and is shipped completely assembled, ready for immediate installation and production. It Features surrounding solid panel screens to contain welding activity and a fume extraction hood to reduce exposure of fumes, which reduces potential OH&S concerns.

With the installation of the Robotic Welding Transportable V-Cell, ARB has experienced consistently accurate and reliable weld quality, leading to a reduction in re-work.

By offering the range of Standard Welding Solutions, this technology is available for small to medium manufacturers with payback expected to be less than twelve months, and immediate improvement on productivity.

SAS’s Standard Welding Solutions provide a cost effective, user friendly and robust system, capitalizing in the advances in robot based welding technology.
